Hot Glue Gun

Identifying a Problem

Through user trials it was found that a recurring issue with existing glue guns was the stands providing inadequate support. Some would be prone to closing when in use, breaking and detaching, while others did not provide a sturdy base; especially when coupled with stiff cables which could pull the product over. This leads to a potential safety issue of the hot glue gun being placed down in contact with other surfaces.

SKetching Ideas

Concepts were developed on paper targeting this issue as well as more general consideration of ergonomics and semantics to make the glue gun suitable for a range of users but particularly those with less experience of using such products.

Developing a Solution

The main innovation of Stable Glue is the convertible stand which can be attached and detached from the main body to suit the users needs:

Designing for Manufacture

An understanding of tooling constraints and internal components were applied throughout to ensure manufacturability by injection moulding.
